What Does The CVIP Inspection Cover?
A CVIP inspection covers everything from your safety equipment to your emissions control systems. Safety equipment includes anything that allows your heavy-duty truck to operate safely. Take your brakes as an example if your brakes malfunction, both you and everyone else on the road are put at risk. The same goes for your steering, your lighting systems, and even the methods in which you secure your cargo.
The second major part of a CVIP inspection is your emissions control systems. These include your EGR system, your SCR Catalyst, your DOC, and your DPF. All three must be fully functional, or you will fail the inspection. Common emissions problems that are uncovered during the inspection include a partially clogged DPF, a malfunctioning EGR valve, and a clogged SCR catalyst.
